Mercy Behavioral Center makes available this program to those individuals that have difficulties managing their anger and want to pursue a change. This program is for people who has a Hidden Anger and who often are not aware of their secreted anger, facing serious personal conflicts. It’s also for those individuals that are already facing severe negative consequences in their life, as a result of their inability to control anger.
At Mercy Behavioral Center we recognize that making the decision to receive help is not an easy step. However, once you enter in our center our professional staff will take care of your individual’s needs. You will be asked to take a short and simple quiz that will help us evaluate your level of understanding of anger management.
Our program is based in a Cognitive – Behavioral theoretical frame work. This program will be for twelve weeks. Participants can start the program at any point in the sequence. The program was designed with two different components.
First component is an Educational Presentation by the therapist, where the clinician will teach you very important concepts such as: What is anger, body reaction, physiological changes, how to express anger properly, how to identify triggers to anger, connection between anger and distorted thinking process and false believes, Self-Defeating Thoughts and how to make your personal thought Journal in order to increase your understanding about how you react to events which is a top priority in the process of gain control of your anger by understanding the following cycles: External Event /Internal Evaluation of Event/Emotion & Behavior Consequences. These cycles can increase your management skills and control of your anger.
Second component is a Group Dynamic Conduct by our professional staff, where group discussion will occur. Each group member will be encouraged in having an active participation.
During the group dynamic you will be teach about Intimacy Circles because each individual operates multiple levels of intimacy such as relationships with strangers, friends, family members, co-workers, superiors at work and others. You will identify those levels in which you are experiencing the most difficulties.

Also, you will learn the differences between passive, aggressive and assertive behavior. This will help you improve patterns of behavior for a more assertive one. Assertive behavior allows you to express your wants and needs without violating the other person’s boundaries and rights in a respectful and dignity manner toward yourself and others.
There are many techniques that you will learn during this 12 weeks in order to cope with demanding circumstances such as: Assertiveness Skill, Relaxation Techniques and others. These skills will contain thoughts and behavior. Thoughts will conform your internal coping responses and behavior will conform your external coping responses. During your participation in our program you will learn internal and external coping skills to use when angry, avoiding the devastating negative consequences of it.
Increasing your ability of engaging in assertive patterns of communication and healthy relationships, will be your goal and the goal of our Center during you participation in our Anger Management Program. In this program you will recognize your successes, your new differences and enhance ways of managing anger. We welcome you and support your need of change.
